Amsterdam- you don't need transit visa, same with brussels or Frankfurt
Please confirm this on the respective country consulate websites.
Friends Hi:
We are leaving for India in January 2009. I have AP and EAD approved with expired H1B visa stamp on my passport with I-485 pending since July 2007. We have booked flights to Mumbai via Amsterdam (KLM -NWA). Do I still need to get a transit visa, even though our flight will be halting for few may be 3-4 hours at Amsterdam. I am super confused. Please guide.
Thanks

Status should not be a problem, but double check with a lawyer. I'm wondering if you can squeeze a sponsorship for a trip home. Not very long ago, I found out that if a US employer terminates a H1, they need to pay the home country relocation costs.
You should find another job, sooner the better. But I sure would like to get such bad desi consultant companies to pay for a plane ticket.
u r kidding - u think these blood suckers will sponser a ticket after u leave them - he heee. AFAIK, even American companies won't bother after u get layed off

Okay, so the viewbox doesn't work in silverlight? I'm trying to do this type of an animation in silverlight so do you know of another container that would work in the browser? Thanks.

Hi!
My employer has changed the conditions of my employment since we mutually agreed to start the greencard process (reduced benefits, increased my out-of-pocket expenses, did not give yearly increase and bonuses promised at the beginning of my employment). I am now unable to make ends meet with my current salary and there is no sign I will get an increase soon. Will this constitute as valid reason if I quit my job in, say, 1 month from receiving the greencard?
Also, the Senior position specified in the I-140 is not available right now. Do I have the right to claim it, now that the greencard had been approved? If they won't give it to me, will this be a valid reason to quit and not jeopardize my GC with the USCIS?
Please advise. Thank you!

Mostly of the people just think its just giving the annonymous name, phone numbers and getting the benefit of the decision .Please read these point and understand carefully before jumping.
Please be aware, though, that USCIS is likely to examine plaintiffs adjustment of status applications more closely than it otherwise might. It may ask the plaintiffs questions and ask for additional information about their adjustment applications or immigration status. See below regarding discovery.

Let them ask questions and many as RFEs. why to worry we are here as legal Immigrants. I am ready to take the pain which is far better. and it si best way to make them realize.

Permit me to differ....with ND Bhatt.
With all due respect, I would like to point out that visas to dependents may not be the issue. The report includes all pending I-485 cases. It does not differentiate between principal applicants and derivative-dependents.
The problem must be elsewhere. Possibly, they may not have released complete and accurate figures, though I would hate to believe that. For a governmental agency that is answerable to Congress, it will be difficult for them to obfuscate beyond a point.
You are right on the 245 (i) issue. I do know a friend whose wife and child went to the consulate when their PDs became current. Since it was consular processing, it was not a case of I-485....they use some other form DS1030 or some such form.
That said, hang in there. Enjoy life while in the queue.
Best

sorry to break the bad news to you,but this usually means a denial. My I 140 was approved recently, the online status cleared said it's approved. I read many posts on this forum who had the same online status as yours and their I 140's were denied.
Are you sure it would a straight denial or they can ask for more evidence? And if it is a denial then what are my options? I have another I140+I485 filed with my EB3 labor. Is it possible that denial of EB2 I-140 would affect my EB3 I-140 processing. I remeber that my attorney used my EB2-!-140 receipt when filed Eb3 I-140+I-485.

Yes, you can go out of US and use that time to recapture as long as you go within 6 yrs of H1. This is my understanding from my conversation with lawyer working to file my perm. I am planning to travel to India for a month or two once I know the exact time I need. Please help to advice if my understanding is inacccurate.

I am contacting them and will march with them. If undocumented get a bill, our bill will come automatically. We should be supporting them. If we support them they will also support us. With their support we can get our bill. If we try to do a rally for ourselves the so called educated people on H1B and EAD will not come. They will rather spend time driving in their nice car to Disney or eat out in a fancy restaurant. So I believe we need to side with undocumented and help them to help ourselves.
I like the way you put it. Help them to help ourselves.
I will join them too.

The visa officer will quiz you about how long you have been working for your current employer, and what you did before that. If you say you were studying and did not complete the course, expect the officer to get suspicious - ever since 9/11, "students" who dont actually study on an F-1 visa are as a rule viewed with great suspiction. Likewise, at the port of entry when you try to get the I-94 stamped, the officer will look up your SEVIS record and grill you about the reasons for abandoning your course, and whether you were in legal status during the interim. As long as you have all the documents proving everything you say, you should be fine.
What kind of tough questions you think they can ask?? I am very new to all these and do not have much knowlege but only thing i did is try to maintain status legally..is there anything wrong that I did??

I have applied for renewal of H1b and H4 by premium processing on 10-Jan-2010 based on pending green card. I got an RFE for my H1b for which my employer replied on 10-Feb-2010. My H1b got approved where as my wifes H4 got rejected on 22-Feb-2010. Still waiting for denial letter from USCIS. My wifes I-94 got expired on 11-Feb-2010. So is she out of status since 11-Feb-2010. What are my options. Is it better to re-open (MTR) case or go to india and re apply for H4. how is this out of status going to affect her chances of getting renewd in India or her green card application. Any other ideas. Please help.
